Substantial repairs for a safer home
The City lists structural and foundation work, electrical systems, plumbing, heating and cooling, windows, and doors as possible repair categories. A City inspection determines the approved scope. Individual repairs and costs must be evaluated through the program.
Eligibility and loan conditions
Published requirements include an owner-occupied single-family home in San Antonio, a current Homestead Exemption, income at or below 80% of Area Median Income, current taxes and mortgage payments, homeowners insurance, and qualifying title. Reverse mortgages do not qualify. Forgivable loans carry conditions, a property lien, and restrictive covenant terms based on assistance. The City lists terms of 10, 15, or 20 years depending on the investment and project type. Confirm the applicable term directly with the City.
Plan around the City’s process
The City manages eligibility, inspection, scope approval, and loan closing. Contractor work must follow applicable program procedures. Do not authorize work in anticipation of funding or assume a contractor inquiry secures selection. The City states that homeowners must move out during major rehabilitation construction; confirm temporary housing responsibilities before proceeding.
Discuss the construction side with Eagle Eye
